Wittamer - luxury and taste in the heart of Brussels

Talking about Wittamer, it is one of Belgium famous patisseries -- Patisseries means shop that sells bread, bread rolls, fruit tarts, cakes, and / or biscuits. The original founder, Henri Wittamer, established his shop at the Grand Sablon in 1910 which is till now Wittamer later generation still take care their own family business.

The cafe was started in 1950 when Yvonne WITTAMER came up with the idea of setting up tea rooms at the back of the shops located at 12-13 Place du Grand Sablon. The place (as seen in pictures) is still the original place -- so around 100 years already. However, what I am amazed for this Wittamer in terms of Wittamer has branches in Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka but only 1 in Brussels !!!

After we have seen Wittamer Cafe in Japan, it should be harm if we experienced the original one in Brussels. Here what we experienced with Wittamer Cafe ... Do as they do which was seat on the sun (lucky that Brussels that day got strong sun !!!) and ordered hot chocolate and coffee ...

The Hot chocolate was so thick -- it was served together with whip cream in separate small bowl. Therefore, customers would fill in at the amount level as they like ... but from what I noticed, most of customers still left some whip cream in small bowl.

The coffee also served with whip cream since I ordered the Vienna Coffee ... it was espresso shot with milk foam topped with a little of whip cream.
