Cupcakes at Magnolia Bakery

Cupcakes is a small cake designed to serve one person, usually made in a small paper cup container.

Magnolia Bakery is a bakery opened in 1996 at 401 Bleecker Street, on the corner of West 11th Street in the West Village neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City. The bakery is known for its famous dessert treats, including its cupcakes. This bakery shop and its cupcakes are so famous since it were featured in lots of movies/films such as the most famous one which was in "Sex and the City" and in "The Devil Wears Prada".

Of couse, there's always a long queue in front of this shop. On that day, I was in a line almost half an hour to get in. There was a guy controlling a queue and telling us how to do when stepping inside

We must walked in grasping a box and choosing whatever cupcakes we wanted in. Then, walking to the cashier to pay (there was a chace for us to order any drinks.

Due to its famous from TV’s discovery of Bleecker St, Neighbourhood people has against and put the blaim on Sarah Jessica Parker who ate a creamy retro cupcake on “Sex and the City” at a beloved local landmark. Reasons were that it made the tour buses began circling included the lines outside the tiny Magnolia bakery followed by upscale clothing retailer such as Marc Jacobs, Ralph Lauren, Banana Republic and Abercrombie & Fitch rented a shop right across the street.

Too bad, famous alway comes with commercialization ...

Markt : Belgian brasserie in New York

Markt is a classic Belgian brasserie in Chelsea District of New York. It's decorated with antique bar and furniture.

Since it is a Belgian Style Restaurant, they offered 29 assorted beer which will serve Belgian-Style unique glass or chalice.

What I like most is the way they put foods in i.e., Bread in Tin Utensil inside contains clothes to keep warm and butter. Not only look but the Baguette has strong aroma with crispy and soft combination in one ...

We went there during lunch time. Here were what we ordered :
1) Baguette au poulet – Broodje met Gebakken kip (Grilled chicken breast with roasted tomatoes and basil mayonnaise on a baguette) which was served with fresh mixed salad (below left)

2) Carbonades flamandes – Stoofvlees op Vlaamse wijze (Belgian beef stew prepared with Leffe Brown beer, served with Belgian frites) (below right)

3) Croque Madame (Toasted Paris ham and cheese;topped with a fried egg )

Wow ... Wow this Markt !!!
Everything's great here ...

New York Pretzel

A pretzel is a baked good that is traditionally twisted into a unique knot-like shape. The pretzel dough is made from wheat flour, water, brown sugar and yeast. Prior to baking, it is dipped into a sodium hydroxide (NaOH), sodium carbonate (Na2CO3), or sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) solution and sprinkled with coarse salt, which gives it a glazed look.

Cities in the United States like Philadelphia, Chicago, and New York are also famous for their soft pretzels. Traditional soft pretzels are about the size of a hand.

The above picture is a pretzel selling on street cart of New York. They kept warm bagel down under the cart and dipped with salt when we ordered.

Result ? Don't ask me --- So Salty !!!

Deep Dish Pizza -- Chicago Style Pizza

This is the Chicago Style Pizza called "DEEP DISH PIZZA". It's one of 10 things must do at Chicago when visiting !!!

True Chicago-style pizza features a buttery crust, loads of Cheese and chunky Tomato Sauce. The dough is patted out by hand and raised up high on the sides of a seasoned deep-dish pizza pan. The order the ingredients are placed on a Chicago style deep-dish pizza is “backwards” from a thin crust pizza. Chicago style deep-dish pizza is made with slices of mozzarella cheese that are placed directly on the dough. Then additional ingredients like mushrooms, onions and sausage are spread on top of the cheese. The pizza is then topped with a fresh tomato sauce made with whole chunks of pear and plum tomatoes and topped off with a sprinkling of cheese and spices.

Deep-dish pizza is usually eaten with a knife and fork, since its thick gooeyness makes a slice of pizza larger than eight or ten inches messy to eat with the fingers.

The one which I tried was from "Lou Malnati's Pizzeria". Lou Malnati's is a prototypical Chicago Style Pizza. A thin crust of pizza dough is laid in a seasoned deep-dish pizza pan and raised up on the sides. The ingredients are placed on a Chicago style deep-dish pizza in the opposite order of a thin crust pizza. The first ingredient is thick slices of mozzarella cheese that are placed directly on the dough. Then additional ingredients like mushrooms, onions and sausage are spread on top of the cheese. The pizza is then topped with a tomato sauce made with whole chunks of tomatoes.
